The wheels have a couple of kerb marks and could do with refurbishment at £40 per wheel.  There are a few stone chips that are normal for a 14 year old used car.  These have been touched up and have not rusted.  There is slight wear to the Driver’s side bolster that could do with a repair.  The side bolster can be removed and repaired/re-trimmed easily and cheaply.

I spent ages looking for a black SL500 with black leather and bought this car in December 2009 with the intention of keeping it for many years.  Unfortunately left my e-mail alerts running on Ebay/Autotrader and was too tempted by an R129 SL60 AMG that I bought.  That is the only reason this fantastic car is up for sale.  See my site at for more pictures of the car.

I have a fully lined custom cover for the Hardtop which isn’t included in the sale but is negotiable.  I also have a Parrot RKi8400 Stereo/MP3/iPod/Bluetooth Handsfree head unit again not included in the sale but negotiable if required

Hi, would an offer, subject to viewing, of £4,500 be of interest?Regards, Mark

    Hi Mark

I could be interested in a serious offer but couldn’t let it go for £4500. It is plenty cheap enough at £5999 to be honest compared to all the others out there and I have reduced this already from £6995 to £6495 previously. It is a 96MY facelift model with 5 speed electronic auto and not the less desirable and cheaper non-facelift 4 speed auto. The 96MY with the M119 engine is by far the most desirable model and I have priced it to sell at £5999. This car cost £80k new and has the adaptive suspension(ADS) option that cost £5k alone. It stays amazingly flat and controlled around corners with the ADS and much better than my SL60 AMG in fact. I would have had no problem keeping it as I intended to if the SL60 AMG hadn’t have come along.

Amongst other things it has had a full PowerFlow stainless steel exhaust system installed with stock tips to keep it OEM looking. I have replaced one of the CATS (again with a genuine MB part) that had started to break down. It has had a genuine Mercedes radiator fitted with a full coolant flush with replacement MB coolant and distilled water. All the work I have done on it was with a view for me keeping this car for many years so I haven’t scrimped on anything. All parts used have been genuine MB parts and anything that needed replacing has always been done. It flew through its MOT a few months back which expires in March 2011 so has a nice long MOT.

I have a MBClubUK forum member that wants to buy the car but is not back from Russia until September. I did say to him that if it sells before he comes back then it will sell but if it is around when he comes back he is welcome to take it.

I don’t need to sell it so am not in any rush to sell. That being said I would rather it sell that it be sitting there not being used, loved and appreciated. It just gets cleaned and run every week at the moment!
